Hashoo Foundation signs agreement with IFAD to implement a honey bee farming project
July 16, 2009 Hashoo Foundation signed a 12 month grant agreement with the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) to implement the project “Indigenous People On-farm Livelihood” through “Entrepreneurial Development of Honey Bee Farm Keeping for Household Structures of Kalaash”.
Building on the success of the “Women Empowerment through Honey Bee Farming” project in Gilgit, this project aims to train 100 women in honey bee farming and provide 500 individuals a decent source of earning, in the remotest parts of Pakistan. To make this project sustainable, the Hashoo Foundation will also link the honey produce of this indigenous population to the lucrative urban markets of Pakistan.
